mysore ashtanga yoga in philly
We teach a traditional method of Ashtanga Yoga known as “Mysore style.” Mysore-style Yoga means that you work at your own pace while a teacher provides tailored instruction. You don’t need to keep up with the instructor or the other students. It’s your own practice, at your pace. And since we repeat the same Ashtanga sequence each time, you’ll become proficient quickly. Plus, you’ll have a practice that you know by heart and can take with you wherever you go.

"A common thread I have noticed with Ashtangis is that we all want to grow and improve as people, which is one of the reasons we choose this practice. Meghan provides the guidance, encouragement, and wisdom to keep us moving forward along that path. I overheard her tell another student in the Mysore room recently: 'We learn to breathe in hard poses so that we can breathe through hard things in life.' If that's what you're looking for, I respectfully submit that this could be the place for you."

What Our Students Are Saying
“Meghan and Aria have built a warm, supportive, and dedicated Ashtanga community. Some Mysore rooms can be incredibly intimidating, but Meghan and Aria welcome everyone. They meet each student wherever they are, offering modifications, scaffolded instructions, helpful physical adjustments, and lots of encouragement so we can maintain a consistent practice and make progress without taking ourselves too seriously!”
- Lena P.
“Meghan Marshall is a wonderful yoga practitioner who puts her whole heart into her teaching and practice. It's obvious as a student that she embodies the philosophy and healing elements of the Ashtanga practice. Ashtanga can be VERY intimidating but Meghan breaks it down in a way that honors the integrity and depth of yoga, but is still accessible to the newer yogi.”
- Diana S.
“As a 65-year-old man, coming out of the pandemic, my Ashtanga practice had become constricted and I was unsure how long I'd be able to continue practicing. Working with Meghan has taken me so much farther than I could ever have hoped. Meghan is a brilliant teacher! Her attunement, insight, attention to detail, and generosity of spirit have allowed me to feel safe and trusting while she challenges me to progress in ways that I never imagined. Her studio is a warm and welcoming space. I am forever grateful.”
- Fred B.
“As a recent adopter of Ashtanga, I came upon a Mysore class with Meghan a few months ago and it changed my practice for the better. Meghan is such an incredible teacher. Her deep knowledge aside, it is her presence, personality, and humor that really makes me want to come to her Mysore and led classes as much as possible. I especially like the way she breaks down difficult poses and explains a new perspective with patience and clarity. It has allowed me to progress in my practice relatively quickly."
- Alok T.
“Meghan is a true master teacher. I learned more about the practice of Ashtanga – and my practice, in particular – in my first couple weeks with Meghan than I had learned over months and years with several other teachers. Among the distinctive qualities that make Meghan such a masterful teacher are her insight, patience, mastery of asana and fundamental respect for her students. Her extensive experience as both a practitioner and teacher grounds her mentoring with vast reserves of knowledge. She is also deftly intuitive about adjusting to the diverse needs of her varied students. She meets us wherever we are. Her assists are as skillful as they are subtle. Her tips and adjustments work more like invitations than commands. I am so glad to have discovered her discerning wisdom and vast experience as I explore my next steps as an Ashtangi. Meghan has established a vibrant community of fellow practitioners here at Palo Santo in South Phila. What invaluable gifts she brings to our practice! Her partner-teacher Aria is also a talented gem: a gifted teacher as well, adept with her deep, deft adjustments and practical coaching tips. They make for a dynamic duo holding space for a thriving yoga community.”
